Sport Screens Frequently Asked Questions

Inquires our customers have:

  • How do I know what height I need to order?

A standard Tennis Court Fence is 10 ft High – we make screens at 9 ft High leaving a small gap on the bottom of the fence. For other fences, you typically want to make the screens at least 4 inches shorter than the fence height. This allows for weed eating/mowing without damaging your screens. View our page on Measuring and Installing Windscreens for more details.

  • How do I measure for fence screens?

Please refer to our Measuring & Installing Windscreen page. Measurements should be given in feet and inches; always round down instead of up when you come to partial inches.

  • Do I need air vents?

Air vents are recommended for all screens over 6 ft high, and for any screens that will be installed in a windy area. Air vents help wind to pass through relieving stress on perimeter hems and prolong the life of your screens.

  • Which material is best for your application?

Vinyl Coated Polyester (VCP) is our most popular material because of its quality and versatility. The material is available in a variety of colors and looks great with digital printing. VCP Max™ offers a higher tensile strength, provides more of a visual block for privacy and can also be digitally printed on but is only available in three colors. PolyPro™ Plus windscreen is primarily used on 9 ft high tennis court fences because it’s a vented open mesh that allows air to pass through. Due to the open weave, PolyPro™ cannot be printed on. All three of our main materials offer a 3- or 4-year warranty. If you have additional questions, contact our customer service team to walk you through your decision and offer some suggestions on your fence screen order.

  • How long does fence screen last?

The life span of windscreen varies greatly depending on environmental conditions and storage. If screens are installed correctly, maintained properly, and stored indoors in the off season, you can usually expect them to last on average 5-7 years.

  • What is the least expensive fence cover?

VCP in green or black is our most economical option for custom fence screening. If a prefabricated material for temporary applications is desired Privacy Fence Screen can be purchased in 150 ft rolls or as prefabricated panels.

  • What does the backside of Sport Screens look like?

All of our standard fence screen materials have the same color on both sides of the screen material. If your fence screen is over 6 ft in height it will have a center reinforcement tab on the backside of the material that will be laced to the outer side of the fence. If you add custom printing to our fence screen materials your screen will still have the same color on the backside of the screen. In some circumstances, If you require a full coverage digital print to achieve your desired visual outcome your fence screen could have a white backside. Our customer service team will discuss this when ordering.

  • How see through are fence screens?

Our standard Vinyl Coated Polyester material has an 80/20 ratio. This means that 80% of the weave material is solid and 20% is open to allow air to pass through. Despite being a mesh material, windscreens help create a visual barrier on either side of a fence. Please browse through our installed photos for examples. If you need a denser material, you can opt for our VCP Max.

  • How do I install fence screen?

We recommend securing our windscreens to a chain link fence using 120lb heavy-duty tie wraps or “zip ties”. Every grommet should be secured pulling the fabric tight to the chain link fence. Once ties are pulled tight, cut off excess length for a clean finished look. Visit our installation page for a complete guide on installing our Sport Screens.

  • How are Custom Printed/Logo Orders Handled?

Don’t stress! Ordering printed sport screens is quick and easy. Simply choose a VCP fabric and then email us your printing details. We prefer high resolution vector files for any logos; if you are unsure of correct file type, please send what you have and we will contact you as needed. We will send you a digital proof and once it’s approved your order will be in our production line-up and in your hands before you know it. Visit our ordering page to get started or download our step-by-step printing guide.
