Description
This 100% Polypropylene material is a vented open mesh windscreen pattern that allows air to easily pass through while still offering privacy. This open fence screen material puts the least amount of strain on your fence making it ideal for taller fences and windy areas where high airflow is a requirement. PolyPro™ Plus is a highly durable leno weave material that is heat-set so your screens will never shrink or change shape.
Weather and UV protection is extruded into every fiber of the Polypropylene windscreen for maximum performance and longevity. Douglas’s superior fabrication and attention to detail is proven with our unique extra-strong reinforced hems –the strongest in the industry.
Windscreens are available in standard 6 ft and 9 ft heights and in custom heights by request. Screen length is completely custom and made to order to the nearest inch; 60 ft is the maximum recommended length per panel.
Extra Strong Hems
PolyPro™ Plus windscreen material is hemmed with Douglas’s 4-ply extra-strong hems. These durable hems include solid vinyl inserts as well as an 18oz vinyl overlay and are double sewn to 1-1/2 inches wide. The #2 brass grommets are spaced every 12 inches on panel sides and every 18 inches along the top and bottom.
Center Reinforcement
When installing windscreens, center reinforcement is recommended for anti-billowing on all panels that are taller than 6 ft and where strong winds prevail. Center reinforcement allows the screen to be secured to the middle of the fence with tie wraps or lacing cord. All Sport Screens by Douglas® over 6 ft in height include a center tab with grommets.
Center tabs on PolyPro™ Plus are double stitched with 3 inch wide heavy polyester webbing and grommets are placed every 18 inches to secure the screen to the fence. The center tab grommets are only placed on the webbing and do not go through the fence screen material. This results in a cleaner installed appearance with no visible grommets on the front side of the material.
Air Vents
Optional air vents allow air to pass through and help take the strain off your fence and windscreen. Air vents are recommended for screens taller than 6 ft and where high winds prevail. The Douglas® PolyPro Plus is only available with AVR style air vents. AVR’s are rectangular sewn cut outs that measure 8 inches wide by 10 inches high. These vents are perimeter hemmed with polyester webbing and are placed at 10 ft. intervals on center.

Additional information
- Our pricing is based on the total linear feet (LF) required of a specific height. We offer prices in LF of the most common heights that are used. If your height is not listed, please contact our customer service team to place your order.
- Fence screens should be cut slightly shorter than the actual fence height. Refer to our How to Measure guide for more details.
- Ordering custom screens might seem intimidating – but it doesn’t have to be. If at any point you would like guidance, recommendations, or have any questions or concerns – please call us! Our customer service team has years of experience and are happy to help!
- Air Vents – Optional air vents allow air to pass through and help take the strain off your fence and windscreen. Air vents are placed at 10 ft intervals. To calculate the number of air vents you need, take the total linear feet divided by 10.
- Tie Wraps – For installation, we recommend using 120 lb. UV protected tie wraps. There should be one tie rap securing every grommet. Alternatively, you may choose to secure some areas of the screens with 50 lb. tie raps or black lacing cord. To calculate an approximate amount of tie wraps that you will need to order you will need to take each panel of fence screen that is on your list and add the Top + Bottom + Side + Side all in feet increments. Since grommets are placed every 18 inches on the top and bottom and 12 inches on the sides this number will amount to an approximate number of ties that you will need with some extra. Tie wraps are sold in packages of 100 quantity.
-
- Example: 2 quantity, 6 ft H x 50 ft L sections: 2 x (6 + 6 + 50 + 50) = 224 Tie wraps needed.
